Listed Building record MDO47487 - Particular Baptist Chapel, Poole
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Although several Particular Baptist converts were made circa 1646 by Thomas Collier no separate congregation remained by the early 18th century. A new cause was commenced in 1735 and a meeting-house erected in West Butts Street, but by the 1790s this too had failed. The building was sold and demolished, and the proceeds applied to the General Baptist churches at Chichester, Downton, and Newport, Isle of Wight. The site is marked by a plaque.
