Full Description

Late Bronze Age looped, socketed axe with curved edge to the short blade, and oblong socket. The face is ornamented with three ribs. A rough and poor casting. From Sydling St Nicholas. Given by Mr R Dodd to Dorset Co Museum. Acc No. 1910.4.1. (1) No further information concerning this find was obtained during field investigation. Mr Dodd was not traced. (2) A Late Bronze Age socketed axe known as the South Wales type, having three decorated ribs on each face and a high loop placement. (3)
