Summary

Traces of strip fields have been recorded to the west of Sutton Waldron in an area enclosed before 1765. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

Full Description

There are traces of strip fields on the west of the parish church at ST 858159. (Listed under Medieval and Later Earthworks). <1-2> Centred at ST 85851595 and running for some 300.0m around the north side of a low hill are the remains of three broad strip fields. Bounded in places by scarps up to 2.0m high, they form part of the current field pattern. A substantial hollow-way runs parallel to and south of the fields from ST 85561584 to ST 86001590. <3>
