Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Remains of a deserted post medieval settlement near the principal gateway to Eastbury. House were still standing early in the 19th century but removed by the end of the century. The remains consist of ten or more long closes, bounded by low banks set at right-angles to the brook. Disturbed areas at the lower ends of the closes indicate former buildings. It is suggested that this is the site of Gunvil Eastbury the original settlement of the present Tarrant Gunville.
