Summary
The robbed-out remains of one, possibly two structures of possibly 14th-15th century date were found on and just behind the South Street frontage during the 1996 excavations by Wessex Archaeology on the site of the former Fire Station in South Street, Bridport. These structures had been robbed out by the early 17th century.

Full Description
The robbed-out remains of one, possibly two structures of possibly 14th-15th century date were found during the excavation of the site of the former Fire Station , South Street, Bridport by Wessex Archaeology in 1996. <1> <2> <3> <4>
Structure A was found adjacent to the South Street frontage and survived as an L-shaped robber trench, presumably representing the SE corner of a house on the frontage, within the northernmost of the two postulated properties in the excavation area. No floor levels or any internal features survived within the excavated area. Running along the south side of this building was a stone-lined drain running along the postulated property boundary.
Structure B comprised a single robber trench running N-S beyond the eastern end of the drain. It is unclear whether this formed part of a building.
