Full Description

A roughly circular enclosure has been identified from aerial photographs within Ancient Field Group (70). It lies at the northern end of a linear dyke or hollow way. [1] The feature is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs [2-5] where it appears to comprise a sub-circular banked enclosure approximately 108m in diameter. A possible pit or hollow of uncertain origin is located centrally within the enclosure ([4], although this may be a later feature. A linear earthwork (MDO5035) abuts the southern end of the enclosure and may continue around its east side and on northwards, where it is recorded under MDO 37379 - although it is possible these are two separate features extending from either end of the enclosure. If one continuous linear earthwork, this respect of the curvilinear enclosure would suggest that is the earlier of the two features. The enclosure was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.
