Summary
A long barrow recorded in 1972 as an earthwork mound 115 feet long and 48 feet wide, and up to 6 feet high. It is thought that this barrow was opened in 1840 by Austen, who found a burial interpreted as a later insertion. The barrow is visible as a sub-oval earthwork on aerial photographs and on Environment Agency lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description
The barrow is situated in the area of military camp and has been fenced around. <1>
ST 92940884. Long barrow; possibly the one opened by J H Austen and found to contain an extended inhumation, probably of much later date. The barrow mound measures 44 metres long, 18 metres wide and stands up to 1.8 metres high. Scheduling amended. <5>

The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
