Monument record MDO5338 - Bowl barrow, Winterborne Whitechurch

Summary
A bowl barrow situated at the top of a shallow combe on Whatcombe Down. In 1970 this monument was reported as being around 50 feet in diameter with a mound about one foot high. J C Mansel-Pleydell and W Boyd Dawkins excavated a barrow in the vicinity in 1898, and it is probably this barrow.

Full Description
A grass covered bowl barrow 17.0m in diameter by 0.4m high. There is no visible surrounding ditch. <2>
Bowl barrow, ST 85510197, 25 paces in diameter by 4ft high. Possibly opened in 1864 by William Shipp. (See ST 80 SE 49). <3>
Bowl Barrow at ST 85500197, 50ft diameter by 1 foot high. Possibly opened in 1898 by J C Mansel-Pleydell and W Boyd Dawkins. (See ST 80 SE 50). <4>
