Summary
A pottery kiln, part of the Verwood Potteries, in production from the 17th century. It was operated by the Henning family for much of the 18th century, but in 1809 the lease was taken over by John Viney, and later by the Baileys who continued until the 1860s. The kiln mound was demolished during the 1950s.

Full Description
Site of a former pottery in Alderholt in use from at least the eighteenth century to the 1860s. The kiln mound was destroyed in the 1950s.
The kiln was run by the Henning family for much of the eighteenth century, but in 1809 Charles Henning was replaced by John Viney. Before long the tenancy was ehld by William Bailey and together with his son William he was potting here until the 1860s. (1) (2)
