Full Description
A pair of banjo enclosures and associated features visible as cropmarks, part of an extensive complex of enclosures, linears and fields spread across Gussage Hill (see ST 91 SE 3 and associated monuments). Resembling the banjo enclosure complex a little to the northwest (ST 91 SE 135), the main features are a pair of banjo enclosures, each facing due east, their funnel-like approaches each being linked by a ditch running north-south. A further ditch runs southwards from the southern entrance ditch of the southernmost enclosure before turning west and then north, round behind the banjo enclosures in a manner reminiscent of the ditches associated with the more northwesterly pair, effecively forming an enclosure behind them. Linear ST 91 SE 212, running northwest-southeast across Gussage Hill, appears to change direction as it approaches this complex, turning south towards a further enclosure ST 91 SE 214. NB these features were originally described as part of ST 91 SE 3. That record should be consulted for additional sources and further information.
