Summary
An isolated find of an Early Bronze Age flint axe of `Scandinavian` type found in 1945. Of cream, patinated flint. The exact site of this find is not known but was reported as being from 'a short stretch of the bank of the river Stour, on the north side of the road between Canford Park and Little Canford.'

Full Description
An early Bronze Age flint axe of Scandinavian type has recently been found in the bank of the River Stour near
Canford. The exact site is not recorded, but the object came from a short stretch of river bank on the north side of the road between Canford Park and Little Canford. (Calkin <2> shows the findspot as being on the north bank of the river at SZ 041996, but gives no additional authority for this siting.) The axe was found by P F Moore of Canford School. This is the furthest west recorded axe of this type. <1>
P B F Moore left Canford School in 1946 and his present address is not known. No further information was obtained regarding the siting of this find, and its present whereabouts was not ascertained. J B Calkin was not contacted. <3>
