Summary
A Bronze Age bowl barrow situated in heathland near the crest of a hill. In 1975 this monument was reported as being around 30 feet in diameter with a mound about 2½ feet high. This barrow may be the barrow investigated in 1845 by J H Austen, who recorded no finds. The barrow is visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery and was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
Round Barrows: There are six barrows in the parish; one of them, either (7), (8) or (9), was excavated by J.H. Austen in 1845 with no resulting finds (C.T.D. Pt 2 No.32). … (7) Bowl (04030104), over 200ft. above O.D. near the crest of Canon Hill, on heathland; diameter 30ft., height 2 1/2 ft. <3>

The barrow is visible on current Lidar imagery as a small sub-circular mound around 7.6m across and surrounded by a shallow or flattened berm, possibly a ditch, between 3m and 4m wide <5>.
The barrow is also clearly visible on 1950s aerial photographs <6>. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
