Monument record MDO5714 - Undated ditches, Uddens Park, Hampreston, Ferndown Town
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Three shallow ditches were observed and recorded during construction of the Purbeck to Southampton Pipeline in 1989. Early medieval pottery (12th to 13th-century) was recovered from over and in the top filling of the ditches. Geophysical survey of adjacent areas outside the easement of the pipeline produced no clear evidence for the continuation of the ditches. The date, extent and function of the ditches remains unclear.
