Full Description
Perforated stone hammer-head found in a garden in "The Green" Holt. Dorch. Mus. 1936. 45.1. <1>
[Area centred SU 02910380] Neolithic hammer-head presented to Museum by Capt. BAMBER. <2>
Found in the garden of CAPT BAMBER at THE GREEN. Large hour glass perforation. Black rock veined with quartz. <3>
Found by Mr C. HANN in c.1937 whilst digging a cess-pit in the garden of GREENLEA, HOLT. The find was made about six feet below ground level.
[SU02860385] Lt Cmdr Bamber pointed out the cess-pit. The hammer-head was not seen in DORCHESTER MUSEUM. <4>
