Summary

One of four barrows on Burleston Down, at the west end of a scatter that extends into the adjacent parishes of Dewlish and Milborne. All have been heavily ploughed. In 1970 the monument was recorded as about 90 feet in diameter, with a surviving height of about 2 and a half feet.

Full Description

Six round barrows on Lords Down: B: SY 77989635. Bowl barrow 50 yards east of (A). Diameter about 90 feet, height 2 1/2 feet. <2> These barrows have been reduced by ploughing since 1970 and now measure: 'B' SY 77989634, diameter 36.0m., height 1.2m. A, B under pasture: C-E in arable. None has a visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <3> 2 Bronze Age bowl barrows located 580 metres south east of Crawthorne Farm. They lie 15 metres apart forming part of a fragmentary and dispersed group of barrows on Lord's Down . The eastern barrow has a mound 30 metres in diameter and 1 metre high. The western barrow has a mound 35 metres in diameter and 0.75 metres high. Surrounding each mound is a quarry ditch. <4>
