Summary

Roman Road (B) Badbury to Hamworthy. A 713m section of the Badbury to Hamworthy Roman road is visible as linear banked and scarped earthworks on aerial photographs. The earthworks are visible running across Eye Mead, Pamphill, between a minor tributary to the southeast and the Stour riverbank to the northwest. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A 713m section of the Badbury to Hamworthy Roman road is visible as linear banked and scarped earthworks on aerial photographs (1-3). The features comprises several sections of linear banks and scarps, truncated in places by later historic field boundaries. The linear sections in their entirety run across Eye Mead, Pamphill, between a minor tributary to the southeast and the Stour riverbank to the northwest. The features are still visible as low linear earthworks on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
