Full Description
A mound, probably the remains of a barrow, lies on the west end of North Hill, Burton Bradstock, nearly 1 mile NW of the church. It is 52 ft. in diameter and 3 ft. high but has been much disturbed. The fairly large stones in and around the disturbance indicate the material composing the mound. <1>
SY 47999069. Burton Bradstock 1. Bowl barrow on North Hill 20 paces diameter, 3ft. high. Shown on OS map, but not as a barrow. <2>
SY 479906. Round barrow on North Hill. Scheduled. It measures 66 ft. diameter, 3-4 ft. high and is much disturbed, the top cratered with a trig point erected on it. However, the main structure is probably intact. There are remains of a peristalith on the south side. Visited in June 1959 when it was under grass in pasture. <3-4>
The low earth mound is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 <5> and was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
