Summary

A ring ditch visible as a cropmark on air photographs, one of a line of five ring ditches, located just east of the Dorset Cursus and interpreted as round barrows. This monument was first noted by W D Hoade in 1975, who reported a ring ditch 72 feet in diameter and 8 feet wide, though he noted that it was not as clear as some of the others in the group.

Full Description

A ring ditch visible as a cropmark on air photographs, one of a line of possibly five plough-levelled round barrows located just east of the Dorset Cursus and immediately north of the village of Pentridge. Listed by Grinsell as Pentridge 16 and by RCHME as Pentridge 39 (in Bowen 1990, 1991), it was first noted by W D Hoade in 1975, who reported a ring ditch 72 feet in diameter and 8 feet wide, though he noted that it was not as clear as some of the others in the group.
