Monument record MDO6210 - Ditch with Verwood Pottery wasters, Dewlands Way, Verwood

A wide linear feature recorded during archaeological work on a proposed development site. This feature was interpreted as a probable ditch. Although the top of the ditch had been disturbed by gardening, a lower filling of the feature contained undisturbed Verwood Pottery waste. The features were located within close vicinity of Verwood kiln 10 (MDO6203) a pottery kiln which was in production during the 19th century, a date which appears to post-date the date of the wasters.

A possible sand pit and pottery wasters were recorded during an evaluation in Dewlands Way, Verwood in 1994-95. The features were located within close vicinity of Verwood kiln 10 (SU 00 NE 76) a pottery kiln which was in production during the 19th century.
