Summary

A round barrow no longer visible as an earthwork. A barbed and tanged arrowhead was found when the barrow was flattened. The dimensions of the barrow are not known. The feature is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted from these by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

The feature is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1) where it comprises a 10m in diameter mound and a 1.5m wide outer ditch. The feature was digitally plotted from these aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project. (Area centred SZ 07889788) Site of round barrow. Barbed-and-tanged arrowhead found during demolition. (2) Mr. Calkin's information came from Mr. T. Dayrell-Reed many years ago. Mr. Dayrell-Reed pointed out the site on the map at SZ 07879787, but could not recall any further details. The arrowhead is now lost. Nothing is visible on the ground, which is pasture field. (3) SZ 07889789. Listed. No additional information. (4-5)
