Summary

A Neolithic long barrow. RCHME described it as an earthwork mound at least 120 feet long, 90 feet across and up to 3.5 feet high. Ploughing has severely reduced the height of the mound, and has levelled its southwestern end. The mound is also crossed by a modern hedge/field boundary. Part of the Drive Plantation Group of barrows.

Full Description

(SU 01461476) Long Barrow (NR). <2> A long barrow aligned south west/north east is crossed by a modern hedge. Ploughing has flattened the south west end and has severely reduced the remainder. Formerly it was at least 120 feet long, 90 feet across and up to 3 1/2 feet high. <3> The barrow occurs among a scatter of later round barrows, including a more focused cluster which as a group, broadly share the same alignment as the long barrow itself (see SU 01 SW 20 and associated monuments).
