Full Description
Earthwork remains of Iron Age and Romano-British field system overlain by Medieval strip lynchets. Visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs {1,2}. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
Strip lynchets of up and down type covered 12 acres partly over "Celtic" fields about SY 656856 and a further 12 acres at SY 657854, now almost destroyed. <3>
Two or three genlee contour scarps are visible in the field centred at SY 656855; they may be much ploughed down lynchets. No "up and down" lychets are now visible, there or at SY 657854. <4>
