Full Description

A Late bronze Age leaf-shaped sword found in 1920. <1> An 'ancient sword' recently recovered from the Backwater, Weymouth exhibited by V Oliver FSA. <2> BA sword found during construction of the new Bridge, now on loan to Dorset County Museum, from the Weymouth Corporation. <3> Leaf shaped sword found during construction of Westham Bridge. <4> The town Clerk's department of the Weymouth Corporation was unable to supply any information concerning the find. Westham bridge is situated at SY 67737924. <5> The length of the sword is 20 inches and five sixteenths; 1 inch of its point missing. Examined 15/9/54. <6>
