Full Description

(Area centred SZ 021970) A long blade of dark brown water-worn flint retouched along both sides was found in sand overlying gravel near the junction of Wimborne Road and Arrowsmith Road. <1> A Palaeolithic blade implement has been found in sand overlying the gravel near the junction of Wimborne Road and Arrowsmith Road. In Poole Museum. <1-2> The exact findspot is not known, but the road junction is well known. The implement, of dark brown, water-worn flint, is exhibited in the collection of the late H P Smith in Poole Museum. <3> Grid reference as used in Ordnance Survey records, which indicate that field investigator spoke to Calkin at the time, and had access to Calkin's annotated record map.
