Summary

A possible Bronze Age round barrow, now converted into a tree-covered and revetted garden feature. A circular mound is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Worgret Hill, Arne. It is considered likely to be the remains of the round barrow described above. It is one of a group of dispersed barrows which make up the Worgret Heath group.

Full Description

'A' Diameter 20.0 metres; height 1.7 metres. Flat topped with no sign of berm or ditch. Now an ornamented mound in the garden with brick steps up the S side, and planted with shrubs. A stone wall 0.7 metres high surrounds the foot of the mound. Probably a bowl barrow. <2> The barrow forms an outlier of the Worgret Heath round barrow cemetery. <5> A circular mound, approximately 18m in diameter, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Worgret Heath, Arne <6>. It is considered likely to be the remains of the round barrow described above. It is one of a group of dispersed barrows which make up the Worgret Heath group. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
