Summary

A bowl barrow on the slope of a ridge. In 1970 this monument was described as around 62 feet in diameter with a mound 1½ feet high. The barrow mound is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1976; it is 17m across and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM.

Full Description

A bowl barrow, 24 paces in diameter and 1 1/2ft high. Arable 1939, grass 1953. (2) A bowl barrow 25.0 metres diameter, 0.9 metres high. No trace of ditch or excavation. Under grass. (3) SY 83129714. Bowl barrow, 62ft diameter and 1 1/2ft high, ploughed and situated on the west slope of a ridge. (4) SY 831971. Round barrow south of Horse Close Plantation. (5) SY 83129714. Bowl barrow, diameter 23.0 metres approximately, height 0.8 metres. In arable and ploughed over. Broad ditch visible as a soil mark on air photograph. Resurveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. (6) The barrow mound is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1976 <8>; it is 17m across and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM.
