Monument record MDO7374 - Bronze Age settlement at Hawk Post, East Creech, Church Knowle
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Archaeological work in 1994 in advance of an extension to the quarry revealed a number of ditches which appeared to combine to form the boundary of a possible settlement enclosure. Several groups of small pits and postholes were also recorded, and interpreted as being domestic in nature. The enclosure could not be dated but it was thought most likely to be of prehistoric date, probably Bronze Age.
