Exeter Archaeology recorded a buried soil preserved beneath ridge and furrow banks at Simsay Fields, Alton Lane, Cerne Abbas. The discovery was made during an archaeological evaluation in advance of housing development at Simsay Fields in 1998. The buried soil contained frequent charcoal but no datable artefacts.
