Full Description

During excavations at Rope Lake Hole in 1979 a crouched inhumation burial in a cist associated with the shale working settlement was found. The burial contained a Durotrigian Bowl and a shale lid-like object. Aspect S. The nearest site is Metherhills, occupation debris to the NW, the nearest large settlement probably that located by finds at Norden to the north of this site, there are numerous smaller industrial sites in the area. The site is situated in a field regularly ploughed in ley pasture. A steep cliff to the S with the site eroding from it, a coastal footpath crosses E-W (1)
