Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A limekiln recorded as ‘Limekiln’ on the 1963 Ordnance Survey map, ‘disused limekiln’ on the 1926 O/S map and ‘Willwood Limekiln’ on the 1900 O/S map. It has a kiln head that is much higher than usual to give protection from the elements. It has an iron band to hold the top brick course and prevent damage. The lime shed was roofed with stone tiles. It was visited in 1992-3 by Peter Stanier and found to be in good condition with some 80-90% still standing.
