Monument record MDO7729 - Romano British shale working site, Metherhills, Kimmeridge

Summary
A large hoard of turned shale armlet cores was found in this field before 1856. Excavations in 1946 indicated shale working in an oval area some 40 yards long, with flint lathe tools and sherds of Romano-British pottery including fourth century ware.
