Summary

A Levallois flake tool found in 1951 or 1952 in a large field west of Henbury Barrow. Of dark grey flint with even, glossy cream patination. Presented by the finder to the Dorset County Museum.

Full Description

Levallois flake tool picked up on surface of field. 4th January 1951. (SY 94759832) <1> This flake tool measures 5.9" x 3.5" and is now on show in Dorset County Museum. (1951.17.1.) <2> SY 947984. Found on Dullar Farm, near the centre of the large field west of Henbury Barrow, and presented to the D.C.M. by Miss V.M. Chandler, of Dullar Farm. The flake has primary and secondary working. (Full description by Prof.Burkitt). <3> The siting of this Pa. implement, as given in Auth. 1, was confirmed by Miss Chandler. The field is now under grass. The siting was pointed out on the plan by Miss Chandler. <4>
