Summary

An extensive group of well-preserved contour strip lynchets are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and Lidar imagery of Gold Down. They are considered likely to be medieval in date, possibly overlying an earlier Late Prehistoric field system.

Full Description

An extensive group of well-preserved contour strip lynchets are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (2-5) and Lidar imagery (6) of Gold Down. They are considered likely to be medieval in date, possibly overlying an earlier Late Prehistoric field system. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). Please also refer to records MDO8058 and MWX557 for extra detail.
