Full Description

During evaluations carried out in 1986, post medieval pottery and then medieval pottery in what is thought to be a medieval soil horizon were found. A trench 10m square was excavated and it revealed a black soil up to 0.8m deep, this contained almost exclusively post Medieval pottery, towards the base of the soil a differentiation in soil colour and a quantity of late to 14th century pottery was revealed, two postholes were cut into this lower horizon.
