Full Description

West Lulworth Chapel, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, stands near the east end of the village, and is small, consisting of a chancel, nave, south aisle, and tower on the south side of the nave. The tower is a Perpendicular building of two stages which apparently incorporates the remains of an Early English tower or porch. <1> No remains are visible on the ground, which is now a cemetery. A painting dated 1860 in the vestry of the succeeding church shows the old church as roofless. It seems to have been Early English. <2> The early church was dismantled about 1859 and a lot of the material used in building the present church. <3> Parish Church built in 1869-70, by J. Hicks. The only remains of an earlier structure are in the North Vestry of the new church where the nineteenth century East window has a re-used sixteenth century rear arch. <5>
