Monument record MDO8260 - Cist burial at Newlands Farm, West Lulworth
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A Romano-British cist burial was found at Newlands Farm during work to repair a water pipe. Excavations by L J Keen and R N R Peers revealed a small skeleton, thought to be a young male. The remains of iron studs around the feet suggested that the body had been buried with its boots, and a fragment of pottery indicated a 3rd or 4th-century date for the burial.
