Summary

A bowl barrow reported in 1970 as being around 42 feet in diameter with a mound 3 feet high. The barrow was identified on aerial photographs taken in 1947.

Full Description

'A'. A low flattened mound. Diameter 7.0 metres and height 0.4 metres. No sign of berm or ditch, but a slight depression exists in the top. A bowl barrow, covered with gorse and bracken. No surface finds were made at these barrows, both of which are of bowl type. <2> A) & B). Bowl barrows. <3> 'A' - (38) SY 80238603. Bowl barrow, 42ft diameter and 3ft high situated on Drove Hill. <4> SY 800865. Round barrows on Drove Hill. Scheduled. <5> A: SY 80228602. A much burrowed and mutilated bowl barrow densely overgrown with gorse. It is difficult to determine precise measurements, but it is approximately 12 metres in diameter and 0.7 metres high. Revised at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <6> The site of the bowl barrow was identified as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 <8>. It was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
