Monument record MDO8350 - Enclosure at Burton Cross, Wool

Please read our .

Summary

A rectangular feature around 40 metres by 30 metres visible on an aerial photograph, and interpreted as a possible ditched enclosure. This feature is thought most likely to be of late Iron Age or Romano-British date, as it coincides with a concentration of surface finds and other features observed during digging of a pipe-trench from Burton Cross to Arish Mell in 1959, and subsequent archaeological investigations.
