Summary

Bowl barrow on Emmetts Hill, urns reportedly found. Recorded as being around 75 feet in diameter with a mound about 1½ feet high and much reduced by ploughing. The low mound is visible as earthworks on lidar.

Full Description

SY 96287647. Bowl barrow, 25 paces diameter and 1 1/2ft high on Emmetts Hill but spread by ploughing. Urns are said to have been found <1.1>. <1> SY 96287647. Bowl barrow, 75ft diameter and 1 1/2ft high. Ploughed. Same information as Authy <1>. <2> SY 96297647: Bowl barrow, 100m OD in arable, much ploughed and spread. Surveyed at 1:2500. Occupied by Mr James, Renscombe Farm, Worth Maltravers. <3> Site visited by MPPA and now exists as a slight mound 0.25m high at most. There is little scope for the survival of buried deposits on account of the depth of the ploughing. <4> The low mound was digitally plotted from lidar during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). <6-7>
