Summary

A biconical urn was found in 1881 along with a cremation deposit and some large blocks of ironstone. The blocks have been suggested to represent a cist, although this is far from clear. The discovery was made at the south west end of Tuckton Bridge, during its construction.

Full Description

A large slightly gritted urn of sub-biconical shape with two large and two small lugs, with its accompanying cremation and several large blocks of ironstone, which presumably formed a cist, were found in 1881 at the SW end of Tuckton Bridge (SZ 149922) during its construction. Preserved in Lansdowne Library for a number of years. <1>
