Please read our .

Summary

An oval barrow about 21m by 17m across and 1.75m high, possibly an oval round barrow or a short long barrow, stood to the south of Christchurch Road. The barrow was incorporated into a garden of a house at the end of the nineteenth century and was destroyed in 1934. The mound was apparently probed by Captain Elwes and proved to be a barrow. It was estimated originally to have been about 25-27m long.
