Summary
A large Palaeolithic burin was found in Castle Lane in 1927, about 200 yards north west of Sheepwash, Iford under 6 feet of gravel. 11 Lower Palaeolithic handaxes and one miscellaneous object also found in an area of floodplain geology.

Full Description
A large burin (Palaeolithic) 4.4 ins long was found in Castle Lane in 1927, about 200 yds NW of Sheepwash, Iford (i.e. area SZ 130937) under 6 ft of gravel. In Druitt collection. (1) 11 Lower Palaeolithic handaxes and one miscellaneous object was found north of Castle Lane, Sheepwash, Iford. The objects were found in an area of floodplain geology.
