Iron Age remains. Iron Age 'A' pottery, loomweights, etc, found in 1935. Now in Calkin Collection, British Museum. <2>
Discovered on July 29 1935 by T Dyer whilst digging a trench for a new water main in Romney Road. <3>
Site of finds built over by modern road. <4>
An Iron Age site discovered during water main trenching by the Bournemouth Gas and Water Company in Romney Road, Ensbury Park, in July 1935. Calkin visited the site and collected some finds including Early Iron Age pottery, baked clay loomweights , burnt daub, hammerstones and lumps of ironstone. Some of the finds had been burnt. The pottery included bead rim bowls, jars and a large storage jar. <5>
