Summary

A heather-covered bowl barrow damaged in its northern quadrant by a brick structure with a concrete cover. The barrow is faintly visble on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A bowl barrow; diameter 25 paces, height 4 feet. (2) A heather-covered bowl barrow, 17.5m diameter, 1.8 high, on the edge of a gravel pit. No visible ditch. The north quadrant is mutilated by a brick structure with concrete cover 2m square. (3) No change: published NSL 1:2500 survey correct. (4) In 1976 as part of an emergency earthmoving effort minor pits in the barrow were filled in.(5) The barrow is faintly visible on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project (6). The feature is under low scrub and not visible on current Google Earth imagery.
