Full Description
Fleet Rifle Range, marked on 1939 OS map. (1) Chickerell Range, part of the Wyke Regis Training Area, is visible as a series of structures and banks on aerial photographs (2-5) to the west of Weymouth. The site is split into three discrete areas. The first to the west of Furzedown Farm (SY 64923 78554), the second to the west at Tidmoor Point (SY 64595 79024), the third to the west of Charlestown (SY 364595 79411). The site is still visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project (6/7). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).,
