Full Description
The church at Burleston, "situated on the north side of the village, is a very small fabric consisting of a chancel covered with lead and a body tiled. In a turret at the west end is one bell", according to Hutchin's in 1774. Only the chancel now remains. <1>
Parish Church of Burleston, now in ruins, has walls of flint with ashlar dressings; the surviving roofs are slated. Only the chancel remains which has the north and possibly east walls dating from the 13th century, the south and west walls of flint and brick bonding courses were probably rebuilt in 1910 when the structure was repaired and re-roofed. The east wall contains a 15th century window and the north wall retains an original chamfered lancet. A 15th century doorway has been reset in the modern west wall. <3>
