Monument record MDO949 - Lime kiln near Compton Valence Farm

Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-2) Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who recorded that some (40-59%) of the kiln structure survived in fair condition, and that it had a round, brick-built draw arch.
