Summary
A museum built 1881-3 to a design by G R Crickmay and Son of Weymouth for the Dorset Natural History and Antiquarian Field Club, now the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society. The building is of Portland Stone with Ham Stone dressings and a slate roof. Numerous decorative features include a crenelated parapet, a two-storey bay window with Perpendicular-style tracery, and an oriel on the first floor corner. A striking feature of the interior is the Victorian Hall with roof and galleries supported on cast iron columns.
