Full Description
Marked as a flax mill on the first and second edition OS. <1>
Terrace of modified rubble stone cottages of 10 bays and 2 storeys, immediately south of the churchyard, oriented approximately east-west. The west elevation has a vertical joint towards the southern side (the front of range). Date stone inscribed R R 1800. The gable walls are coped, with matching kneelers, the roof is of slate with 6 brick chimneys. To the south of the terrace, but at a slight angle to it in plan, is detached a stone house, probably of about 1800, this was the mill foreman's house. A short distance to the south-east is a short length of low rubble stone walling with a wide stone arch, presumably originally over the headrace or tailrace of the early mill. Further south is a long rubble stone range, apparently out of use, oriented approximately north-west/south-east. The ends are twin-gabled, and each gable at the north-west end contains an oculus. This range was probably only of one storey, but the number of bays could not be determined. The roof is of slate, which has been irregularly replaced by corrugated iron. At the north-west end some overgrown timber construction is visible, part of this may incorporate the wooden covering around the belt- wheel. <2-5>
