Summary
A World War II field gun emplacement located adjacent to White Wings House, West Bexington. The emplacement measures 6 feet by 6 feet by 12 feet wide with two sunken chambers measuring 5 feet by 5 feet by 6 feet high. The front of the structure is open with gun mounting outside its cover. Construction is of concrete with a corrugated iron roof. The structure was built in 1940-41. A field visit in 2000 found the structure to be extant.

Field gun emplacement. The front of the structure is open with gun mounting outside its cover. 2 internal steps to small chambers. Access difficult because of undergrowth.
PLAN drawn on form. 6ft x 6ft x 12ft wide concrete gun emplacement, with two sunken chambers (5ft x 5ft x 6ft high). Gun mounting holdfast still in position. faces out to sea - SW. The roof of the left chamber is made of corrugated iron and has deteriorated badly. The bramble hedge is growing through the roof. Adjacent to the house 'White Wings' on land of Labour in Vain Farm, West Bexington. <1-3>
